How does the centre work?

The glue of the Centre starts with our amazing multidisciplinary team who all hold a strong knowledge of the current inventory of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows services available. Our team includes 2 child psychiatrist with a third to join in the New Year, clinical counsellors, family physicians and peer support workers. Working alongside our we also have many community partners who support as well, including Options for Sexual Health, WorkBC, Alouette Addictions the school district, public health.

A youth may walk in to the Centre through a private door, or out of curiosity from the surrounding neighbourhood. This youth may or may not have told their mental health or substance misuse concerns to their parents, or even to their friends. The support can be fully on their terms.

The youth will connect with our Team, who will then provide them with available services and information and will help them maneuver through the system maze. It may be an appointment with a youth psychiatrist for an assessment; recommendation to clinical counselling; sharing technology apps that the youth can access for information 24 hours a day; a referral to the Sexual Health clinic; directing them to an education program on anxiety; connecting them with a peer mentor with lived experiences that they can relate to; offering help to their parents or guardians through support groups; or directing them to other speciality services in the community such as to Alouette Addictions.
